If you're not receiving Adsense payment via EFT, Western Union is better option if this service is available in your country.

Western Union is one of few payment options for Adsense publishers. If you couldn’t receive Google paycheck via EFT (electronic funds transfer), Western Union is second best choice if this alternative cash transfer service available in your country.

Up to now, there are limited number of countries allows EFT from Google. So is true for Western Union, where this cash transfer option for Adsense payment is only available in Argentina, Bulgaria, Chile, China, Colombia, Egypt, Lithuania, Malaysia, Morocco, Pakistan, Panama, Peru, Philippines, Romania, and Taiwan.

Depends on central bank policy in respective country, there is a maximum payment amount a receiver can withdraw from Western Union.

So, what happen if Adsense paycheck amount over the Western Union maximum payment limit?

In the earlier days, Adsense automatically ignore your preferable payment option (in this case, it’s Western Union) and go for secured express delivery check (that comes with fees imposed dearly by banker and/or courier service provider).

Now, Google fine-tune the process by splitting the “oversize” paycheck into multiple payments that each of these is well below or equal to the maximum limit set by central bank. Therefore, Adsense publishers continue to enjoy the Western Union cash transfer benefits (i.e. fast and cheap as compare to other non-EFT options), regardless of the “size” of payment from Google.

Again, it’s depend on respective country central bank policy, receiver might have to withdraw each of the multiple payments in same OR different banking day.

Beside the update on split payment, Adsense also extend the deadline of claiming payment from 35 days to 60 days. If you payment is not picked up within 60 days of issuance, Google automatically credit the payment amount back to your Adsense account and set the payment status to hold.

If you want to display Adsense ads, keep the maximum number in mind...

How many Adsense Link Unit ads can be displayed on a page? Why some of the Adsense units are not shown the page?

“I was wondering why one of the Adsense unit keeps on showing nothing while there are four pieces of Adsense for Content code placed in the page?”

Don’t panic; if a particular Adsense unit exceeds the maximum limit of its type, the system automatically turns off “extra” ads of the type from appearing on the page.

So, what is the maximum number of each Adsense categories?

Well, the information are in the Adsense policy, at the section called “Ad Placement”.

And to help publishers remember that golden number, a new post of Arlene Lee might make it easier to keep in mind.

As a summary, each page cans only place or display a maximum number of

One Adsense Video unit,

Two Adsense for Search unit,

Three Adsense for Content unit,

Three Adsense Link Unit.

Sometimes, there are just too little of quality or relevant ads for a page. So, that’s a good idea to keep the number of ads low. Otherwise, the same ads are repeated twice or more in the page and make the feel of reading…arrr!

Latest news posted in Adsense blog stated that Adsense Referral ads unit will be ceased by next month end.

For those who are using Adsense Referral ads unit, it’s time to housekeep blog theme files to remove the entire Adsense Referral units.

Few hours ago, Adsense blog posted a news stated that the Adsense Referral ads unit will be retired by the end of August 2008. So, everyone should have plenty of time to do housekeeping accordingly.

But, what if you don’t remove them by next month end? No worry, I don’t think that will break the Adsense TOS. The only drawback is that you earn nothing when your readers click the Referral ads of Google Pack, Firefox, Adsense, Adword, etc.

So, you may continue keeping them in theme files and encouraging your readers to click these Referral ads unit. Aren’t these products you’ve used and endorsed? Wasn’t the Adsense TOS suggested that you’re allowed to write comment on the product and point your readers to use it by clicking Referral ads unit of the product?

Ohya, maybe the ads space is too valuable in your blog. So, you’ve no choice, but say sorry to replace them with alternative ads unit, as soon as possible before the Adsense Referral retired by the end of next month.

Alternative Ads Units to replace Adsense Referral ads

As suggested by the Adsense blog, users are encouraged to use either one of these two products:

Adsense for contents, i.e. the text/image ad unit or link unit, provided blog page is not showing the maximum units of these Adsense ads unit. At the time of writing, Adsense TOS allows user to place up to three ad units on each page, a maximum of two Google AdSense for search boxes on a page, up to three link units on each page, etc.

Google Affiliate Network, which is rebranded from the DoubleClick Performics Affiliate Network after the acquisition exercise. Similar to the AdSense Referrals program, the Google Affiliate Network earning is based on advertiser-defined actions instead of clicks or impressions. At this moment, the product is only for advertisers targeting users located in the United States.

P/S: You’re encouraged to create and save all reports related to the referrals program, so as to serve your valuable campaign information after the Referral is ceased.

How Google Adsense could help you and the others who suffer in the disaster?

It’s really affecting to read all news related to the fatal natural disasters that happened in Myanmar and SiChuan lately.

I can’t make myself available to help them physically, but I am pleased to help them in financial way, with little donation.

When I read one of the latest Inside Adsense email, I thought that was great, as Google has finally setup a mechanism to allow publishers automatically contribute portion of their earning to charity fund!

However, that’s not the case. So, I leave a comment there:

I would prefer an option in my Google Adsense account to allow me donate a percentage of my earning to reputable charity funds!

I think this is kind of corporate social responsibility program (CSR) that enterprise like Google should have.

I’m not rich as Bill Gates, but I definitely afford to donate 5% of Adsense earning to charity.

And if all other publishers follow that could be very huge eventually!

I was the 8th reader to comment. Since then, no much responses / reactions / pingbacks are seen from other publishers / readers!

Is that because most publishers not making enough and so can’t afford to contribute little percent of their earning to charity?
I doubt so!

Is that because most of the publishers dislike China / Myanmar?
When come to charity, we shouldn’t care about which country to benefit from the donation.

Have I donated?
If there is the God, he knows that.

To be frank, I will be happy to see this happen in one day – Google put an option in Adsense account where publishers could automatically allocate specified percentage of their earning to some reputable charity fund.
To block contextually-targeted ads from a given advertiser, you can use the Competitive Ad Filter.

Yes, provided you’ve enabled the Placement-Targeted Ads feature and advertisers have started to target your site(s), these ads will be shown in Ad Review Center. Otherwise, there is nothing, because those contextually-targeted ads are not shown in Ad Review Center!

I suppose that no advertisers will target WalkerNews.net (poor ranking) as they ought to be serious about branding and thus will target those really popular websites.

However, to my surprise, my Ad Review Center is not empty! But, there is one “spam” advertiser target WalkerNews.net :-(. I’ve no choice but to block it immediately!

How to block junk ads that target your site with Ad Review Center

If you’ve found some junk ads target your site in Ad Review Center, just do this:

Click the drop-box to select “Block all ad groups from this advertiser” for that particular junk ads and then click the “Save Review Setting” button block these spam ads from showing in Adsense account.

As the contextual ads is too much to be possible shown in Ad Review Center, I’ve no choice but to keep an eye on ads running in Adsense account, take a lengthy process to identify and block those junk ads in Competitive Ad Filter.

REMEMBER, if your earning drop suddenly while not much changes in site traffic, then it’s time to review the ads running on your site(s). Clean up junk ads not only increase readership experience but also get better pay from good ads.

Do you ever know that your Adsense is displaying all the junks in your blog that lead readers to the same advertiser's MFA site?

First of all, I know that WalkerNews.net is never a favourite blog of many. But, I do put in many efforts on this baby that serve as a backup of my experience in life and hopes that Adsense could bring me little bonus by year end.

In the meantime, I’m also happy to know that someone finds my blog useful; some readers also really kind to share more info on the topic that I’ve made – e.g. Guillaume, Johnny, Brian, CityShaman, Mroids…(Thank you!)
However, the no-so-good WalkerNews.net becomes worse when the Adsense junks appear every now and then.

I’m really frustrated to spot more and more LCPC junk ads in my Adsense code, like this picture showing here:

There are links related to Antivirus software; 3 out of 4 seem to offer free software. But, all these 4 links are actually lead us to the same MFA site!

If you don’t mind to open up another web browser and browse to the URLs as those printed in the red-framed picture above, you’ll get the similar theme on all four links. Some of them are actually redirect to the domain named as meanwhile dot com!

Thus, I strongly believe that all these LCPC Adsense junks are owned by the same advertiser, so as the MFA sites referred! Don’t you feel weird?

From the publisher point of view, LCPC Adsense junks are nightmare. These junks not only make the site looks suck (or worse than it’s should be), but also lower down the potential earning and readers loyalty altogether!

Imaging a reader who click on the links that he found interesting, and disappointed by the MFA sites that lead him to nowhere – not to mention that he found nothing useful, but also emotional disturbed as he found himself lost in the links farm!

I bet that not many publishers dare to “browse” the Adsense ads showing in his/her site. But if you do, you might surprised by what your readers see or suddenly aware of what cause the earning drops so much suddenly!

Will the Adsense Ads unit with scroll arrows works better than combining Link Unit into its conventional Ads Unit?

After discovering Link Unit Ads in the Adsense conventional Ad unit, now there are another new features being tested

Up and Down arrows to scroll for more relevant ads (bottom-left corner in the blue color rectangle)

Sometimes appears with a short sentense that read “Show More Ads”

A Link Unit keyword is much attractive than the tiny arrows showing in that position!

But, I doubt it’s really useful and will bring much earning or profit to publishers and advertisers. The former idea of combining Link Unit and Ads Unit into one will be much practical in general. The reasons that I think this new feature will not work well could be as these:

The tiny arrows is not significant and intuitive enough to draw great attention.

Unless reading a Yellow Pages, how many of you will bother to click that arrows for next page of ads?

Probably, this feature will never be “advertised” by Adsense. Otherwise, another farewell party will be called for it, sooner or later, as the one made for “Onsite Advertiser Sign-up”!

(I’ve been really busy for the past one month – not for holiday or Christmas preparation, but works that really matter. With this opportunity, I wish you all Merry Christmas!)
