The default keyboard settings for 1st player is quite convenient to myself, i.e. the Z key meant for shooting, X key meant for releasing bomb and the Arrow keys are use to move the Raiden jet-fighter in up/down/right/left direction

Now, if the Windows running on PC / laptop failed to open the classic Raiden-III, you might have seen an error message dialog box similar to this:

Depending on the locale available on Windows (using AppLocale on XP or the Vista Ultimate MUI pack), you might see some Japanese words or some weird characters that follow the word Direct3D. My friend translated that for me as “failed to initialize Direct3D”.

According to the official system requirement for playing this classic Raiden-III are as follow:

• Windows 2000/XP
• Pentium4 (1.7GHz and above) or Celeron (2.0GHz and above)
• At least 512MB of RAM
• DirectX-compatible graphic card with at least 64MB of RAM and support hardware texture acceleration for texture and lighting (e.g. ATI Radeon 9000 or later nVidia GeForceFX)

As long as I enjoy the game, that’s enough for me to continue favour the game. I doubt there are players who will hate the game that they used to play with when all his/her friends dislike the game.

If not my dear college Jack showing off his new download of Raiden-III arcade game for Windows, I couldn’t know the real Raiden-III is so classic and modern! It’s really a next generation of Raiden Jet-fighters but looks familiar. New weapons and bombs, different Jet battles, amazing sound effects and absolutely catchy graphics!

Also, it’s not a Unicoded version. But, my English version of Windows Vista Ultimate with Chinese MUI pack installed is just nice to support non-Unicoded Chinese software!

The classical i-Sobot will command a “cheaper” price tag starting from 31,290 Yen or 257 USD while the special i-Sobot edition with Webcam implant on its head will ask a price tag from 344 USD!

Measured at 165 mm (6.5 inches) in height and 350 grams in weight, Guinness World Record authority has official acknowledge i-Sobot as the world smallest humanoid robot in production at this time being! Ideally, i-Sobot has to be scaled down in that size to serve its toy playing purpose. Otherwise, a 1.65m i-Sobot will be a best assistant for housewife!

Though it is small and “cheaper”, the robot functionality isn’t compromised!

The i-Sobot is fully functional and features 17 custom designed servomechanism (actuators) and gyro-sensor that allow it to freely moving its joints for expected performance, vivid movement, and incredible flexibility. The toy owner can command i-Sobot to perform over 200 classical actions plus special actions like dancing and guitar playing via voice command or a LCD remote control!

With these features and specifications in the current market, one can only found them on other much expensive humanoid robots!

If the Raiden-X flash game is not hosted in Rapidshare.com, or if it’s a one-click direct-download link that without require one to enter captcha (verification code), you can easily right-click the link and select “Save Target As…”.

So, how to download the Raiden-X shockwave-flash game from Rapidshare.com?

Because the Raiden-X flash game is not compressed or zipped, Internet Explorer will not pop up the download dialog box for you to specify where to save it in local drive! IE will attempt to render or play the shockwave-flash game after it’s downloaded to temporarily Internet file cache folder.

Using IE7 in Windows XP

1. Click Tools button and select Internet Options

5. Append \content.ie5 to the folders path in address bar and press ENTER.

Raiden-X is a Shockwave Flash version of Raiden II emulator that can play on most flash-enabled web browsers, such as IE7 and Firefox 2.x.

Unlike the Japanese Raiden II emulator, Raiden-X is a Shockwave Flash version of Raiden II emulator! I’ve just started to play this flash version and pause at Mission 2. Except with less attractive Raiden II graphic and so-so sound effects, most of the original Raiden II game features remain intact - the number of game missions, obstacles, weapons, Raiden fighters, etc!

But, the flash version is smaller! Raiden-X is just weighted at 2.75MB, which is easier to keep in my USB thumb drive. Also, Raiden-X is cross-platform and highly portable, as the flash version of Raiden II emulator can play on most flash-enabled web browser, such as IE7 and Firefox 2.x!

One of the nice feature of Raiden-X is the save-and-resume function. So, I can pause at mission 2, save the session, and quit the game. Later, I just have to load in the saved session and resume from the missions that I’ve passed!

The cheat-sheet of playing Raiden-X? Don’t worry, Raiden-X is easier to play. And, if you set the game difficulty level to Easy Mode, definitely it will be the easiest mode to complete all the eight missions!

How to play the flash version Raiden-X shooting game?

Just open Raiden-X with any flash-enabled web browser. If Macromedia Shockwave Flash plugin is not installed, IE7 or Firefox 2.x will prompt you to install. After clicking the Start menu, just click on the flash game window once, then you can start using the Arrow keys to move around Raiden-X game menus or fire-shooting!

Note, IE7 Protected Mode will alert you a message that

“To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this web-page from running ActiveX controls that could access your computer. Click here for options….

Just click on the message and select “Allow Blocked Content” to proceed playing Raiden-X! But, there is no such alert when I play it on Firefox 2.x.
