HTC One X Camera Bug Disables Auto Screen Lock

No matter how complex your screen lock password is for securing HTC One X, the built-in camera app can make it useless.

Let’s say you’ve configured Android to auto lock phone after 3 minutes of inactivity:

1. Open the built-in camera app (leave it running).

2. Press the power button (to blackout the screen) and let the phone idle for more than 4-5 minutes.

3. Then, press power button to turn on the screen – you’ll find the phone remains unlock.

As per setting, the phone should be automatically locked after leaving inactive for more than 3 minutes!

My HTC One X is running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, with camera app version 5.1.623767, and using password type for screen lock (not pin, pattern, or face unlock type).

I think the built-in camera app shouldn’t block or prevent the screen auto-lock function. Indeed, it should automatically put the camera unit and app into standby mode after inactive for a minute (not capturing image/video) or as soon as the screen goes into sleep mode (when the power button is pressed).
