How To Format Windows To Go Drive?

The Windows File Explorer doesn’t show a connected Windows To Go USB drive that isn’t assigned with a drive letter.

In that case, how to destroy or format that Windows To Go USB drive, convert it to be another data backup disk?

If you’re pretty sure there is nothing in there for backup, just use the Disk Management to remove its partitions and format it:

1. Press Windows key and type diskmgmt.msc.

2. Right click on the target partition and select “Delete Volume”.

3. Right click on the unallocated disk space and hit “New simple volume”, then follow the instructions to format it with drive letter.

It’s good to use quick format method and the default allocation unit size of NTFS file system. In my test, the process takes less than a minute to complete.
