How To Change Nokia N8 Default PDF Reader?

If you keep both Adobe Reader LE 2.5 and AlternateReader on Nokia N8 but prefer to use later as the default PDF reader, then you might need to manually configure Nokia N8 Default Applications setting.

As mentioned in earlier posts, AlternateReader is an open source freeware for reading PDF and DJVU files on Symbian OS 9.x and the S60v5 edition is compatible on Symbian^3.

Until QuickOffice improves Adobe Reader LE 2.5 user interface and harness multi-touch function of N8 / Symbian^3 Platform, I favor AlternateReader as the best Symbian^3 PDF reader for N8 that I am using now!

Change Nokia N8 default apps for open PDF and DJVU file

Click the menu key and go to Settings > Application Settings > Default Applications > Options > Advanced Options (left screenshot):

Trick to change Nokia N8 default PDF file reader from Adobe Reader LE to AlternateReader freeware.

Locate and tap on the “Open application PDF” item, you’ll be prompted to choose a new PDF reader installed on Symbian^3 (as shown by right screenshot).

Thereafter, whenever you tap on a PDF file or open PDF link on the mobile web browser, Symbian^3 or Nokia N8 will automatically open the file with this new default PDF reader as you wish.
