What is that Site Authentication and how does it works?

In order Google Adsense system to deliver the most relevant ads to publishers, the Adsense Crawlers (also known as Adsense Spiders) are “sending out” to visit incalculable number of publishers’ web sites. Essentially, Adsense Spider is similar to Googlebot (Google search engine crawler) that index published web sites in Google search result pages.

As such, to improve ads targeting or Adsense optimization, Webmasters must try the best to allow Adsense Crawler visits published web contents with unrestricted privilege, especially on those premium contents or password protect web pages that require membership authentication.

Having say that, Webmasters should grant Adsense Crawler a premium membership account for Adsense improvement – and the Adsense Site Authentication is the way to get this done!

How to setup or enable Adsense Site Authentication feature?

Adsense Site Authentication is only available to publishers who login with Google Account, and the feature will be available to all Adsense publishers in multiple phases!

To confirm the Site Authentication feature is available to you, browse to the Adsense Setup page, as shown in the snapshot above (click it to enlarge)!

No complicated setup are required, just give the Adsense Spider a “premium account” username, password, few other details and verify that you own the site through Google Sitemaps! Indeed, the instructions printed in setup page are easy to follow. For more information, try to visit the dedicated help resource for Adsense Site Authentication.

Once the Site Authentication setup completed, it may take 1 to 2 weeks time for the Adsense Crawler to revisit the premium sites.

P/S: It’s not uncommon that many popular site owners continue to publish non-Adsense compliant contents that require membership authentication. So, Webmasters who maintain premium contents that are against Adsense TOS should never consider enabling this feature.
